This consists of an interview conducted by George Simeon in 1982-1984 with George Washington Porter. Porter was born on December 26, 1895. His mother was from Kotzebue Sound, Alaska and his father came overseas from Dundee, Scotland. The sound recordings are comprised of four files of the interview that was originally recorded on cassette tapes. The textual records are comprised of a transcript of the interview. The transcript was produced in 1984 when the Commissioner's office borrowed the tapes from the NWT Archives.

Issues received are: Vol 6 # 3 - 1978, and Vol 7 # 1 & 2 - 1979. Records also include two unpublished reports: the first by A.M. Ervin of the Department of Anthropogy, U. of Saskatchewan, "Preliminary Notes Toward a Research Proposal on the Relationships of Culture, Death, Illness and Medicine in the Canadian Arctic". The second by John O'Neil, titled "A Preliminary Working Paper Towards a Research Proposal for the Master's Thesis in Anthropology".

This fonds consists of 79 colour photographs that were in an album compiled by members of the Sanavisak Guild in Pine Point. The accession also contains the minutes of a meeting held on September 8, 1965 to discuss the formation of the guild; two guild newsletters, one from March 1982 and the other from 1983; and the programme for the guild's 10th Anniversary dinner and dance. The photographs document many of the activities of the Sanavisak Guild in Pine Point between 1969 and 1984. The majority of the images are well identified. Activities depicted include craft and bake sales, Christmas parties and floats decorated by the guild for the annual Pine Days parade and celebrations.
Sanavisak GuildRecords are comprised of a four page newsletter entitled 'Samuel Hearne Photo Album.' The newsletter shows pictures of students in the classroom, sporting events, school band and staff members, and is dated from 1985.

Photographs may have been used in "community book". There are a variety of scenic shots, community activities & handicrafts. Edward Jumbo is the man preparing a birch log for snowshoes making and working on preparation of tobaggon boards. The birch bark baskets were made by Norma Jumbo.

The textual records consist of a membership certificate. The majority of the photographs document Sam’s life prospecting, mining, and trapping between 1930 and 1950, while a smaller selection document Sam’s nuclear family life beginning in 1952. There are five main series of photographs: work in the Great Bear Lake region with the Northern Transportation Company and uranium mines in the early to mid-1930s; gold mining, camping, and prospecting in the Great Slave Lake area in the mid-1930s through the 1940s; work on the Canol project in 1942-1943; trapping on the barren lands (tundra) of the Keewatin region near Clinton-Colden Lake and the Back River area in the late 1930s to 1950; and Sam’s nuclear family life from 1952 onwards. Communities documented in this fonds include early images of Yellowknife’s Old Town and Latham Island, Fort Franklin (Deline), Cameron Bay camps, Norman Wells, Fort Resolution, and Fort Smith. The moving images document being on the land, prospecting, and hunting between 1930 and 1960, and town and family life between 1950 and 1970.
The digital files (TIFF) are scans of the original black and white negatives, black and white prints, and colour negatives, while the videocassettes are transfers from the original 8mm and 16mm film reels, all created by Sam Otto and loaned by his son Sheldon in 2000. The majority of the originally loaned items were returned by Sam Otto's daughter Lorraine in 2015, in addition to some newly offered materials.

Hanson, SamThis fonds consists of 5 audio cassettes containing interviews with elders that lived in the Salt River area in the 1920s and 1930s, including Francois King Beaulieu, Maria Brown, Vincent Beaulieu, Liza Schaefer, Francois Laviolette and Fred Dawson. The topics of the interviews include a history of the Beaulieu family, housing construction, animal husbandry, farming and the effect of the flood that took place at the Salt River Settlement in the 1930s. The fonds also contains 3 cm of textual material which includes Chipewyan transcripts and English translations of the sound recordings.
Salt River Settlement Oral History ProjectThe records document an oral traditions project carried out by Jonas Adam on behalf of the Salt River First Nation in 1996, funded via the Oral Traditions funding program. The textual records consist of two copies of a report entitled Memories To Last. It includes photocopies of pictures, and what appear to be transcripts of the interviews with six Salt River First Nation elders: Mary Rose Benwell, Napoleon (Abraham) Nasgadhe, Philip Cheezie, Mary Jane Bruno (Taylor), Wilfred Beaulieu, and Oliver Beaulieu. Salt River First Nation BandRecords are comprised of a logbook of radio transmissions made between Salmita Mine and elsewhere. The majority of the calls are between Salmita and Yellowknife. Transmissions include day to day operations at the mine, requests for supplies, and contact with family members. Notable participants include John H. Parker and N.W. Byrne. The first half of the book is handwritten in pencil and ink, the second half is typed.
Records were generated by a project undertaken by the Sahtu Heritage Places and Sites Joint Working Group and include one report entitled "Places We Take Care Of" that identified and made recommendations about the protection, preservation and promotion of heritage places and sites important to the history and culture of the Sahtu Dene and Metis. Records also consist of copies of oral history transcripts from Délı̨nę, Colville Lake and Fort Good Hope. Interviews were carried out as part of the project to identify additional culturally significant and historic sites.
