Standing, left to right, are Sergeant Hubert Thorne; Mr. Wallace; C.C. McCaul, KC, Crown Prosecutor; Judge Julien Dubuc; John G. Cory, representing the Department of Indian Affairs; Inspector Fletcher, RCMP; and Major Jennings, RCMP. Sitting are Constable Wild, stenographer; young Lessard; and Mr. Horn [William Norn?], Interpreter. LeBeau was found guilty of murder and was the first person hanged in the NWT.

This accession consists of one VHS videocassette entitled Lord of the Nahanni - Memorial to Poole Field. Field Poole (1880-1948) was a former Royal Northwest Mounted Police officer who lived for many years in the Ross River and Nahanni River area and worked as a trader and prospector. The video was produced by the Albert Faille Wilderness League and was written and directed by Dr. Norman Kagan of Minnesota.

This consists of an interview conducted by George Simeon in 1982-1984 with George Washington Porter. Porter was born on December 26, 1895. His mother was from Kotzebue Sound, Alaska and his father came overseas from Dundee, Scotland. The sound recordings are comprised of four files of the interview that was originally recorded on cassette tapes. The textual records are comprised of a transcript of the interview. The transcript was produced in 1984 when the Commissioner's office borrowed the tapes from the NWT Archives.

"They Fish the Great Slave" was produced in 1980 by Arctic Films; produced and directed by John Goldi and narrated by Mick Mallon. The subject of the film is commercial fishing on the Great Slave Lake, and features Clifford Bird, Johnny Nault, and Jane "Total" Mayo. "Dene Family" is a Goldi Productions Film from the Northern Lifestyle Series and was produced with the support of the NWT Department of Education and Canada Council Exploration in 1981. The film is narrated by Elizabeth Marlowe and depicts the lifestyle of the Marlowe family of Łutselk’e (Snowdrift).

The newsletter is marked as having limited circulation and may have been written as a comedic piece of literature. The textual records consist of six issues of newsletters published by the students who lived in Akaitcho Hall. There are two issues of "The Akaitcho Youth and Unity", dated November 1964 and December 1964. Also included is one issue of "Student Voice" issued on May 6, 1967. The accession also contains three issues of "Akaitcho Hi-Lites" dated September 1967[?], October 1967[?] and February 1968[?] These newsletters contain stories and articles written by the students living at Akaitcho Hall, lists of names of the students in residence, a gossip column, and reports from various school groups.

It depicts northern Alberta, northern British Columbia and a portion of the western section of the Northwest Territories extending to the Arctic ocean (53 - 70 north and 103 - 128 west). Features included on the map are Great Slave Lake, Great Bear Lake a portion of the Mackenzie River and the Coronation gulf.
