This item is a recording of a field interview of Vital Thomas by Phyllis Coleman to gather Tłįchǫ words and phrases. It corresponds to N-2006-003: 4-3.
Caption on back of photo: "#12 - 1941 View of intake with our work tent in the background and flume nearly ready for canvas covering. The heavy canvas (binder type) was sewn in sections in Edmonton and flown in to Mickey Lake. Bill Clark."
Caption Source: Bill Clark
Photographer: Carl Falcon
WDA's Comments, 2013 Jul 10: Seen from the top end, the flume is complete structurally except that it lacks the bulkhead at the top of the flume to divert the creek into it. Also, the sluice box has yet to be built on the left side of the flume. A heavy canvas lining will be installed in the flume to reduce leaks through the rough whip-sawn boards produced nearby. Jean Dumont on left at base of flume and Bill Clark on right.

describe it.
Photographer: likely Charlie Hansen or Isidore Villeneuve judging from blurred photo edges.
WDA's Comments, 2014 Feb 13: I know nothing about this photo but it has the look of a photo
taken to send back to his Danish relatives. If it was taken in Fort Simpson, Joe Lineham, working
at HBC and an avid photographer, is the only person that I am aware of that may have had the
skill to produce a photo like this. Alternately, the photo may have been taken in Edmonton on
one of Charlie's rare trips outside.

The file consists of records relating to wildlife enforcement, including specimen charges under the Criminal Code, a group of papers on Wildlife Enforcement in Canada, correspondence, and procedures and instructions.
The file consists of correspondence relating to polar bear sport hunting policy.

WDA's Comments, 2014 Feb 13: This photo of Charlie may have been taken when he was
working as a cook for the RCMP of the RCCS?

WDA's Comments, 2014 Feb 13: I think this is one of George and Harriet Sibbeston's
daughters, either Beatrice (see Photo 42) or Edna (see Photo 11 ). To me it looks more like Edna
who, if she was not already Charlie's wife when the photo was taken, was soon to be so.

Photographer: unknown. It is a good photo, so perhaps it is by Joe Lineham the avid amateur
photographer who worked for HBC.
WDA's Comments, 2014 Feb 13: I don't know how many children Charlie and Edna had. In
the interview Charlie says a son was born in 1938 or 1939 not long before he went to Edmonton to buy his little Cat 15 tractor and Photo 12 shows his daughter, Harriet May Hansen. There may have been other children. I don't know which child is in this photo with Charlie.
