This map shows the location of numerous mine sites and exploration sites within the western NWT. Mines indicated include: Rayrock, Beaulieu, Con-Rycon, Negus, Giant Yellowknife, Ptarmigan, Thompson-Lundmark, Mercury, Spinet, Colomac, Goldcrest, Tundra North Goldcraft, Discovery and Peg Tantalum.
This accession consists of one bound folding map with annotations, entitled "Map of the Northwest Territories", published by the government of Canada, Department of the Interior, National Resources Intelligence Service. The annotations consist of the locations for a variety of northern posts, including Hudson's Bay Company posts and outposts, R.C.M.P. posts, Northern Traders Limited posts, Reveillon Freres posts, Sabellum Trading Company posts and free trader posts.
This accession consists of one map (no. 16) taken from the fourth volume of a six volume atlas compiled and published by Philippe van der Maelen in Brussels in 1827. The atlas is entitled "Atlas Universale de geographie, physique, politique, statistique et mineralogique sur l'echelle de 1/1641836 ou d'une ligne par 1900 toises". The lithographs were prepared by Henri Ode, also a member of the Royal Geographic Society of France. The map, which is entitled "Amer. Sep. Partie de la Nouvelle Bretagne No. 16", covers 60 to 66 degrees north and 98 to 114 degrees west. This covers the District of Keewatin and some of the District of Mackenzie - and includes Chesterfield Inlet, Baker Lake and Dubawnt Lake).
Vandermaelen, PhilippeThe maps show Mackenzie River and Great Slave Lake, and the Mackenzie Delta. These maps were originally part of Volume V of van der Maelen's "Atlas Universal de Geographie" published in 1827. According to the Public Archives, each map includes the total cartographic knowledge of each area available in 1825.

This accession consists of photographs of Yellowknife buildings and people. Included are images of Vera Clegg, Marion MacPhee, Father Gathy, Tom Doornbos, Dr. Stanton and Lil Bretzlaff. There are also images of Con Mine, Lakeview Coffee Shop and the Roman Catholic Church. The postcard has a note in French.

This fonds also consists of one Betacam SP videocassette from the Contaminants division of the Mackenzie Regional Health Service. The title of the promotional film is Environmental Contaminants in the North.
Mackenzie Regional Health ServiceThis fonds consists of three photo albums containing 970 black and white prints. The photographs appear to have been taken during the construction and inspection of the road from the Alberta boundary to Hay River. The pages of albums #1 and #3 contain the title "Grimshaw--Great Slave Lake Road." The photographs in albums #1 and #2 appear to have been taken by F.C. Haven. Album #1 contains images :0001 to :0309 which were taken between May 1946 and June 1947. Album #2 contains images :0310 to :0661 which were taken between July 1947 and June 1948. Album #3 contains images :0662 to :0974 were taken between August 1946 and November 1947; these images were apparently taken by C.R. Cornish, Inspecting Engineer.
Mackenzie Highway Photograph CollectionThis accession consists of one copy of a pamphlet from Mackenzie Air Service entitled, "Schedules, Tariffs: Serving All Mining Areas and Trading Posts in the Canadian Northwest from Edmonton to the Arctic".
Mackenzie Air Service Ltd.The photographs in this fonds document multiple trips down the Mackenzie River (Dehcho) on both the S.S. Mackenzie River and the S.S. Distributor. The images document the communities visited along the river, and in particular the barge supply route for the Canol Project from Waterways (Alberta) to Norman Wells (NWT) and members of the United States Army 388th Engineer Battalion working on the pipeline project.
Smee, Horace Herbert (Mac)This fonds consists of twelve 60-minute audiocassettes, two (VHS) videocassettes, nine colour photographs and approximately 4 cm of textual material dated from 1992-1994 that were created as part of a project called Northern Women. The sound recordings are of interviews that Lyn Hancock conducted between September and November 1994 in the Deh Cho; the women interviewed include: Anna Lindberg, Mary Louise Norwegian, Mary Kraus and "Granny" Celine Lafferty. There is approximately 4 cm of textual material comprised of transcripts from the sound recordings and nine colour photographs taken by Lyn Hancock of the women interviewed. The transcript for Mary Kraus includes the 1994 interviews with Lyn Hancock and also includes rewritten transcripts from interviews with Kraus in 1972 that are part of N-1979-091 (Parks Canada fonds). There are also two transcripts from oral history interviews with Bella and Ted Trindell and with Adeline Hardisty that were part of sound recordings from G-1992-033. These transcripts were going to be used by Lyn Hancock as part of the "Northern Women" project. The videocassettes were recorded in 1992 and show Granny Celine Lafferty at the launching of the boat "MV Lafferty", a helicopter flight over Ram Plateau and Little Doctor Lake, and discussions with Mary Louise Norwegian in Fort Simpson. There may also be footage of Mary and Gus Kraus, Edwin Lindberg and Frank Schober.
Hancock, LynThis accession consists of a video of what appears to be a cultural program held in Lutselk'e in 1991 and possibly in the years following, up to 1994. The video features Chipewyan children being instructed in various activities on the land such as mending fish nets, tanning hides, and butchering caribou. The 'Adopt An Elder' portion of the video may have been a form of mentorship program.
This accession consists of three statements of account to A. Loutitt from Little Bros. Fur Sales Agency Ltd. of Vancouver, a letter of permit from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and a letter from Loutitt to A. S. Hodgson Ltd. of Edmonton, concerning the shipment of supplies.
Loutitt, AlexRecords are comprised of a handwritten account of two prospecting trips taken in the 1940s by Lorne Bishop. It also includes a hand drawn map of the area from Great Slave Lake to Great Bear Lake.
Bishop, LorneThis accession consists of one VHS videocassette entitled Lord of the Nahanni - Memorial to Poole Field. Field Poole (1880-1948) was a former Royal Northwest Mounted Police officer who lived for many years in the Ross River and Nahanni River area and worked as a trader and prospector. The video was produced by the Albert Faille Wilderness League and was written and directed by Dr. Norman Kagan of Minnesota.
Albert Faille Wilderness LeagueThis accession consists of six black and white photographs of aviation activities in the north. Included among the images are views of the first air mail services in 1929 and an aerial photograph of Yellowknife.

The photographs were taken during the 1940s and 1950s and show Lindberg family members, communities along the Liard River including Fort Nelson, B.C., Fort Liard and Fort Simpson, freighting and ferry operations.

Borden, L.F.G. "Bob"This fonds consists of copies of 72 photographs taken by A.K. Miller between 1940 and 1942 and one audio reel containing an interview with Miller conducted by the NWT Archives in 1986. The photographs document Miller's trip from northern Alberta down the Slave and Mackenzie Rivers. The images depict a vareity of water transportation, such as the S.S. "Radium King," S.S. "Distributor," M.S. "Liard River," S.S. "Mackenzie River" and different barges. As well, there are several images of CANOL crews and construction, including African-American servicemen. There are also images of Canadian Pacific Airways aircraft, camps and dog teams. The interview contains biographical information on Miller and an explanation of river transportation in the north.

Leonard, DougThis fonds consists of 880 original photographic negatives and 59 copy negatives taken between 1910-1970. The images include the communities of Sachs Harbour, Tuktoyatuk, Inuvik and Aklavik, as well as DEW line stations BAR 2 and BAR C.
Lennie (family)The photograph depicts members of the Albert LeBeau murder trial (judge, lawyers, RCMP) standing in front of the Roman Catholic mission at Fort Providence dating from June 29 or June 30, 1921. Standing, left to right, are Sergeant Hubert Thorne; Mr. Wallace; C.C. McCaul, KC, Crown Prosecutor; Judge Julien Dubuc; John G. Cory, representing the Department of Indian Affairs; Inspector Fletcher, RCMP; and Major Jennings, RCMP. Sitting are Constable Wild, stenographer; young Lessard; and Mr. Horn [William Norn?], Interpreter. LeBeau was found guilty of murder and was the first person hanged in the NWT.
This accession consists of one photograph (colour print) of Margaret Cockney at a drum dance in Tuktoyaktuk in the 1950s.
