The first map (0001) is entitled "Erebus Bay". It was originally surveyed by Commodore W.J.S. Pullen in 1854 and published by the Hydrographic Office of the Admiralty in the same year. Corrections were made in 1925 and it was re-published in 1939. The second map (0002) is entitled "Plans in Arctic America" with inserts of Winter Harbour, Port Bowen, Elizabeth Harbour, Port Leopold, Northumberland Sound, Batty Bay, Victoria Harbour, and Port Neill. It was published by the Hydrographic Office of the Admiralty May 21, 1912 and a new edition was published July 24, 1912.

The film is entitled "A Fishing Tale," and was produced in 1983 by Yellowknife Films. The film is in colour and is 27 minutes in length; it depicts the commercial fishing culture on Great Slave Lake and documents fishing operations in both the winter and summer months and shows how the difficult environment affects the lives of those employed in the fishing industry. Chipping ice holes, setting fish nets with a jigger in winter is demonstrated by Wilfred Smith. Bombadiers, West Channel in Hay River, winter fishing, the Wool Bay outpost station operated by Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation, Wilfred Smith's private fish business, and Clifford Smith's summer boat operations are featured.

This accession consists of five diaries for the years 1932 to 1936 at the Eldorado Gold Mines Ltd. Labine Point, Great Bear Lake, NWT. The period of 1932 and 1933 resembles a ledger recording daily operations, personnel and duties. From 1934 to 1936 the nature of the diary changes and no longer records the personnel, duties, etc. and begins to record accounts of life at the mine, visitors, sicknesses and includes reports of accidents such as drownings and disappearances.

This accession consists of a composite map used by Canadian Armed Forces Search and Rescue in the search for pilot Marten Hartwell, nurse Judy Hill and medivac patients David Pisurayak Kootook and Neemee Nulliayok following a plane crash on November 8, 1972.

The item is made of a series of aeronautical maps that were adhered together and annotated. Two sets of plastic overlays detailing search grids and the actual crash site are also annotated. The maps used depict the geographical area from Spence Bay southeast to Great Bear Lake and southwest to Great Slave Lake.

2 of the audiocassettes contain a recording of a public forum held in Yelowknife on April 24, 1997 to discuss NWT constutional issues. Speaking at the forum, which was hosted by the NWT Area Council of the United Steelworkers of America were Steve Iveson, Bob MacQuarrie, and Stephen Kakfwi. The other two audiocassettes are recordings of an all-candiates forum for the 1997 federal election hosted by Alternatives North.

There are a variety of scenic shots, community activities & handicrafts. Edward Jumbo is the man preparing a birch log for snowshoes making and working on preparation of tobaggon boards. The birch bark baskets were made by Norma Jumbo.
