Charlie's photo description: Foot race. The first one is my father-in-law, George Sibbeston.
He run like a deer that guy. And the next one there with a white shirt, he was George McPherson.
And the one standing there watching with his back was Johnny McPherson. He was interpreter
for the Hudson's Bay all his life. The one behind that looks like Helge Carlson. Johnny I think
was born over at Fort Franklin [Deline] but he always worked for the Hudson's Bay.

WDA's Comments, 2013 Sep 11: G. C. F. Dalziel appeared in their camp one winter day supposedly on his trek from Lower Post to Fort Norman. Dal traded Snoodles, still a pup, for some food to allow him to go on. Snoodles became famous as a big, strong, friendly pack dog. If the ground was firm and not too rough he packed up to 100 pounds in his saddle bags.

I say Dal was "supposedly" on his trek from Lower Post to Fort Norman because Dal described his trek across the mountains as a summer one in my interview with him. Despite that, a number of old-timers have erroneously said it was a winter trek. In 1934-35 Dal was trapping in the Coal River and upper Caribou River country which was not very far away, so he could have easily appeared at the Bennett Creek camp. Lodema George describes Dal appearing at Bennett Creek in February, 1935, as does Dal himself. Snoodles is still a pup in this photo.
