That's at the mouth of the Nahanni. I used to know the names of some of these guys but I don't
now. They were the last of the old Nahanni Indians [Dene] I think. They had names that carried over
from the Yukon, like Boston Jack and one was Diamond C. There was old Bobby Babiche but
he's not here. The one on the far end looks like what the Indian [Dene] calls George Antoine. It looks
like it's got to be him. He was known for his travelling. He was hard to keep up to. The little girl in the front I don't know. Look at all the fish and nets and whatnot piled over there

WDA's Comments, 2014 Feb 05: There are stacks of dried fish on low support strnctures
between the people and the cabin and meat of some sort hanging on the drying rack by the fish.
Neither Charlie nor I could identify any of the people.

This item is the nineteenth part of a twenty-nine-part recording of a portion of a Metis Association Board meeting, held ca. September 1974 in Fort Resolution. The original source item is side A of a 40 minute audio cassette. The meeting also includes items CN-475A, CN-475B, CN-476A, CN-476B, CN-248A, CN-248B, CN-23A, CN-23B, CN-249A, CN-249B, CN-250A, CN-250B, CN-251A, CN-251B, CN-252A, CN-252B, CN-477A, CN-477B, CN-253B, CN-478A, CN-478B, CN-343A, CN-343B, CN-254A, CN-254B, CN-255A, CN-255B, and CN-256A. The recording continues with further discussion of the Winter Warmth program budget and the amounts allocated to each community. There are questions and discussion regarding what happens if money if left over, how the CMHC is likely to react to the reallocation of funds between communities from the last budget submitted, suggested limits and what happens if one house requires only a few repairs, and whether there is a requirement to be a Metis Association member in good standing. A request is made for the Locals to be provided material and transportation costs so they know how much of their budgets they have left to spend on labour. Some meeting participants are hard to hear and the recording ends abruptly.

WDA's Comments, 2013 Jul 10: The sluice box and completed flume carrying Bennett Creek over the pothole in the canyon. The work tent is at the bottom left. It should be noted that Carl Falcon was neither a geologist nor a mining engineer (see Falcon interview). He worked for Hollinger Gold Mine at Timmins for seven years and in that time picked up as much knowledge as many geologists. He was a mechanical engineer who had a wonderful store of knowledge in other engineering fields. He had an intense curiosity, keen eyes and an active brain which took him well beyond his training.

WDA's Comments, 2014 Mar. 10: The lady is almost certainly Alvin LaFlair's mother Emerance Paquette. Later in life Alvin used Paquette as his surname. It is curious that Anna did not refer to Emerance by name. It may have to do with Alvin being born out of wedlock to Jack LaFlair when Emerance was his housekeeper. Emerance was Jack's housekeeper until he died, probably of a heart attack.

WDA's Comments, 2014 Mar. 10: This shows Fielding with his and Ole Lindberg's outfit to go up the South Nahanni to investigate Phil powers death. Ole was hired by Fielding to get him up the river. Powers' death had been investigated by Duncan Martin in 1932 so it is difficult to understand why Fielding is going up again to investigate. Just why George Boudah is in this photo is also unknown because I have no record of him being along on the trip. Photo location is unknown. Fielding's trip is not reported in Shaw's 1960 article "Valley of No Return" in the RCMP Quarterly 25(3): 217-229, so his trip was probably just a routine patrol trip and had nothing to do with reinvestigating Powers' death. It is unclear whether Fielding's trip was in 1933 or 1934.
