Information relating to engineering projects has been grouped into the 300 block. Within this block are six series:

This material was generated by the renovation project of Our Lady of Good Hope, Roman Catholic Church in Fort Good Hope. The textual records include reports on the history of the building, its condition before and after the renovation, and the renovation work itself. The blueprints document the specifications for the renovation project. The majority of the photographs document the building itself; there are also copies of photographs of people in the community.

Records relate to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC) and its 25 year retrofit, addition and renovations which took place between 2003 and 2006. Included are a geotechnical report, needs analysis, upgrade and renovations project brief, and an implementation strategy.

Records date from 1979-2006 and include 3850 colour slides, 2529 35mm black and white negatives, 1911 35mm colour negatives, 397 medium format black and white negatives, 64 medium format colour negatives and 2 medium format colour positives. The majority of the images were created by John Poirier in his capacity as staff photographer and darkroom technician and later Coordinator of Technical Services of the NWT Archives, located at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC), between 1986-2006. Other photographers unknown. Subjects include: staff members; permanent, temporary and visiting exhibits; events; and special projects at the PWNHC. Building construction and renovations, exhibit construction, PWNHC Open Houses, the Tłı̨chǫ birchbark canoe project and the Tłı̨chǫ caribou skin lodge figure prominently. Many of these images were used for publishing, promotional or exhibit purposes for various sections within the PWNHC.

This fonds consists of approximately 61.6 cm of textual material and 17 reels of microfilm from the Central Registry filing system. Portions of the records were generated by the Highways Division of the Department of Public Works (30 block) and date between 1968-1978. The textual records consist of highway maintenance files, private access road files and minutes from the Northern Road Program. The remaining files, dated between 1972-1985, relate to the development and implementation of the Northern Preference Policy. There are also copies of minutes from the 1973 Highway Supervisors' Conference. The microfilm contains records from the design division, construction division, engineering division, operations and maintenance division, highways and marine operations, utilities and accommodation services.

Records include files related to Commissioner's tours, departmental reorganization, goals and objectives, reports from the regions, reports from specific communities on Public Works projects and maintenance of public buildings such as schools. Additionally, there are records concerning land claims, the Business Incentive Policy (BIP), capital assistance, lease and contracting policies, the Capital Site Planning Committee, decentralization and privatization efforts.

This fonds consists of approximately 1.6 meters of textual material from the Department of Public Works and Highways. The material from the Directorate Division includes files and records related to Commissioner's tours during the 1970s, departmental reorganization, departmental goals and objectives, capital assistance, lease and contracting policies, decentralization and privatization efforts and affirmative action policies. There are also reports from the regions and communities on Public Works projects, transfer of resposnibilities from Ottawa, transfer of responsibilites to hamlets, energy conservation projects, material related to the maintenance of public buildings such as schools, Dene and Metis land claim information, the Business Incentive Policy (BIP), the Capital Site Planning Committee, Senior Management Committee Minutes, Project Management seminars and material from conferences that took place across the Northwest Territories. The remaining material, generated by the Project Management Division, is dated between 1977-1986. Included in this material are correspondence, drawings, and specifications relating to the construction of the Northwest Territories Pavilion that was part of Expo '86.

Northwest Territories. Department of Public Works and Highways (1985-1989)

Records include Department of Public Works and Services Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial chronos. Ministerial chronos include correspondence involving Michael McLeod, Minister in 2011 and Glen Abernathy, Minister from 2012-2013. Deputy Ministerial chronos include correspondence involving Paul Guy who was Deputy Minister from 2011-2013.

This fonds consists of approximately 1.15 m of textual material, 60 maps, 3 architectural plans and 84 photographs generated by the Local Trustee Board, Municipal District of Yellowknife, Town of Yellowknife, and the City of Yellowknife between 1940 and 2005.

The textual materials, which date from 1940 to 2005, include Local Trustee Board/City Council meeting minutes, correspondence files, Centennial Committee records, licenses, Yellowknife Board of Trade records, and by-laws. Subject files also include road construction, hospital construction, health and welfare, taxes, elections, federal funding, lot development, budgets, infrastructure development and the construction of housing. There are records from the Town's Planning Committee including budget information, utility franchise information, and records relating to town planning and zoning. A select number of municipal financial statements can also be found within this fonds.

This fonds also contains a select number of reports commissioned by the city and presented to council on issues such as the Yellowknife School District and water and sewage systems. Also included are reports delivered by the City of Yellowknife Heritage Committee, a committee funded directly by the City of Yellowknife. These records include "Policy for the Preservation and Development of Yellowknife's Heritage Resources," prepared by the Yellowknife Heritage Committee (1986), and a copy of the pamphlet entitled "Four Walking Tours of Yellowknife Old Town" (1987). As well, there are several reports authored between 2001-2005 documenting abandoned or demolished Yellowknife buildings as well as an inventory of New Town Historical Buildings.

The cartographic materials consist of maps of Yellowknife, development plans for Frame Lake and the capital site, street lighting plans, plans for water and sewage services, and zoning plans.

There are also architectural plans documenting the renovation of City Hall in 1969.

The graphic content, dating from 1920-1973, depicts meetings of the Municipal Council, municipal buildings, houses and businesses in the town. Buildings depicted include the Gerry Murphy Arena, the Municipal Town Hall, City Hall, the Bellanca Building, St. Patrick's High School, William McDonald High School and Mildred Hall Elementary School. Several photographs feature airplanes operated in Yellowknife by local transportation companies. There are also photographs taken during a dinner attended by Commissioner Stuart Hodgson and Bishop Henry Cook to mark the unveiling of Pilot’s Monument in Yellowknife.
