This accession consists of a variety of unrelated files primarily collected by John Parker. These files include: a copy of a speech given by Parker in 1967 to the Fourth National Northern Development Conference in Edmonton entitled "Local Government for Northern Communities"; documents relating to a Board of Inquiry on proposed labour standards legislation for the Northwest Territories (1965); information sheets on Inuvik [1965?], and records relating to tourism development in the Northwest Territories. Included among these records is material from the Northwest Territories Tourist Association, including minutes and conference reports.

This fonds consists of approximately 72 cm of textual material dated between 1970-1995. Records are from the Fire Safety, and Finance and Administration divisions of the Department of Safety and Public Services. The files relate to Director's and Settlement Council Meetings, policy and procedures files, reports, departmental reorganization, the Labour Standards Board, the Liquor Licensing Board and various standing committees.

The fonds also includes fatality investigation records (text, photographs and maps) from the Mine Safety Division and the Occupational Safety and Health Division.

There are also records from the Mine Safety Divison, including Inspection Reports and correspondence generated by Mining Inspection Services for Miramar and Necro Con Mine.

Records include files related to reviews of the Workers' Compensation Act, strategic planning, action plans, program reviews, and the Safety Incentive and Rate Reduction Program (SIRR).

Records include files on reviewing the Workers' Compensation Act and Ordinance and Regulations for amendments, agreements signed between the WCB and the GNWT, as well as appointments made under the Mine Health and Safety Act and records of the Mine Occupational Health and Safety Legislation Committee.

Records date from 1989-2001, and include Ministerial chronos, as well as a report on injured workers that was prepared by Avery Cooper, strategic planning material, a WCB priority areas corporate plan, a legislative proposal to amend the Workers' Compensation Act and terms of reference and presentation on a policy development framework from the Policy Review Committee.
