This fonds consists of records from the Finance and Administration section of the Mackenzie Regional Health Service. They include organizational charts.

This fonds also consists of one Betacam SP videocassette from the Contaminants division of the Mackenzie Regional Health Service. The title of the promotional film is Environmental Contaminants in the North.

The original audio cassette was copied to DAT circa 1988. The recording consists of an interview with K. Vaydik, a freelancer under contract with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Yellowknife. The discussion covered McDonald's early life, his activities as a geologist and prospector, travel to Yellowknife during the 1930s, a meeting with Jack Hornby, McDonald's opinion on developing a wilderness park at the east end of Great Slave Lake, trading posts, and his naturalist activities.

The material dates from 1976-1984 and include files relating to the following resource development projects in which the department was involved: Slave River Hydro project, Slave River Sawmill, Polaris Mine, Liard Hydro Project, Norman Wells Pipeline Project, Borealis Mine, Emile River Diversion (Northern Canada Power Commission), Hire North, Quyta Lake Camp Proposal, License Plate Work Project and the Arctic Pilot Project. In addition, there is material related to the Resource Development Policy, Energy Policy and General Development Agreement. There are also several statistical surveys and studies conducted by the department concerning Coppermine Employment, Fisheries, tourism, income sources in the NWT, alternative energy sources, and the Dene Nation Economic Development Program. Records also include Minister's Speeches, and committee files from the Resource Development Committee, Committee on Incentives for the Development of Remote Regions, Technical Committee of the Water Board, Transportation Standing Committee, Environmental Review Committee and the Norman Wells Impact Task Force.

Records from the Directorate include ministerial and deputy minister chronos, briefing materials, meeting materials of the Senior Management Committee, Managing This Land Strategic Initiative Committee, Deputy Ministers' Land Use Steering Committee, Joint Climate Change Committee, Energy Coordinating Committee, Deputy Minister's Subcommittee on Science, Arctic Energy Alliance, as well as terms of reference of the Gwich'in Forest Management Steering Committee and correspondence and briefing notes regarding the forest management component of the Gwich'in Land Claim agreement. Other records relate to the revision of the Wildlife Act, creation of the Species at Risk Act, and amendment of the Forest Management regulations, including meeting materials, reports, drafts, discussion papers, and records relating to public consultations. Records also include preliminary screening of land use permits, land lease applications, and water licence applications that were reviewed by the department and its predecessor, the Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic Development, as mandated by the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA). Records also include IRMA (Interim Resource Management Assistance) files, as well as Interim Measures Agreement files (IMA) as managed by DIAND and copied to RWED, who later became the lead on such files after devolution in 2014. Records also include communications on department programs and initiatives, agreements and memoranda of understanding, policies and directives, and records relating to human resources and a possible job action.

Records from the Protected Areas Strategy Secretariat include material from the Implementation Advisory Committee, Steering Committee, working groups, Secretariat, funders, forums, and workshop, material related to activities in the Akaitcho, Gwich'in, Sahtu, and Deh Cho regions, agreements, and communications materials.

Records from the Inuvik region include RWED Operations Manual, ENR Field Operations Manual Standard Operating Procedures, Summary of Hunting Regulations July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, and material for a 2007 Research Day.

Nine of the audiocassettes contain nine programs from the series entitled "This Land We Share.'" It was a monthly program produced by the department that aimed to educate northerners about the role of the Department of Renewable Resources. One audiocassette is entitled "Knowing Our Resources." It was also produced by the department and contained information on new hunting regulations, legislation, and funding for various projects that affected land use and protection of wildlife. 2 audiocassettes contain the same radio ad entitled "Let's Put Garbage in Its Place." This ad was produced for the Pollution Control Division as part of an anti-litter campaign run by the Department. The recording consisted of several variations of the same radio jingle. The remaining 2 cassettes contain the same program called "Fish and Wildlife Ordinance." The recording contains discussions about responsible game management and the differences between hunting technology in the past and present. The audio reel contains recordings of the proceedings and discussion from the Fur Symposium held in Fort Resolution in 1986.

Records consist of correspondence, minutes, policies, briefing notes, decision papers, copies of submissions to environmental review boards and chronos. The records show evidence of the Directorate's activities, programs delivered, the transfer of responsibilities such as Forest Management and Fire Suppression programs, and the role of the GNWT in land use planning. There are also files documenting submissions prepared for environmental hearings and the monitoring of development projects.

Records date from 1989-1994 and include records related to resource development projects such as proposals for tanneries in the NWT, divisional review and input on projects related to the NWT Power Corporation, departmental legislative initiatives such as the Environmental Protection Act, working agreement between the department and the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development on oil spills in the NWT and material from Director’s Meetings that include staff meeting minutes and divisional activity reports. The remaining material consists of committee or working group records from the following: Departmental Planning Committee, NWT Water Board Technical Committee, Environmental Assessment Review Panel (EARP), NWT/Federal Pesticide Review Committee which includes the Pollution Control Division input into the report, GNWT Land Use Planning Working Group and Commissioner's Land and Review Committee (CLRC), NWT Climate Advisory Committee, and the Renewable Resource Committee files on traditional knowledge.

Records date from 1991-1997 and relate to the involvement of the division with interdepartmental committees and includes records from a departmental planning committee on a Renewable Resources Development Strategy, records from the Mackenzie River Basin Task Force Committee, Regional Environmental Review Committee, and records from the Science Institute of the NWT. In addition, there are records from the Nothern Oil and Gas Action Program and a corresponding report titled "Generic Plans and Operating Procedures of a Remediation Facility For Contaminated Hydrocarbon Materials in the NWT" that was done for the division by an NWT Environmental consulting firm (Bryant Report).
