This fonds consists of three photo albums containing 970 black and white prints. The photographs appear to have been taken during the construction and inspection of the road from the Alberta boundary to Hay River. The pages of albums #1 and #3 contain the title "Grimshaw--Great Slave Lake Road." The photographs in albums #1 and #2 appear to have been taken by F.C. Haven. Album #1 contains images :0001 to :0309 which were taken between May 1946 and June 1947. Album #2 contains images :0310 to :0661 which were taken between July 1947 and June 1948. Album #3 contains images :0662 to :0974 were taken between August 1946 and November 1947; these images were apparently taken by C.R. Cornish, Inspecting Engineer.

Records include a certificate of incorporation, by-laws, meeting minutes, annual reports, correspondence regarding the Society, museum, and other projects, building plans for the Museum of the North, museum opening records, including a speech and guest book, a brief and agreement with the Territorial government, and information about various artifacts and archives held by the Society.

Records include photographs documenting the construction of the Aviation Gallery at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, May 1987. The photographs document the pouring of concrete, levelling of the ground site and the creation of the foundation walls.

Records relate to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC) and its 25 year retrofit, addition and renovations which took place between 2003 and 2006. Included are a geotechnical report, needs analysis, upgrade and renovations project brief, and an implementation strategy.

This accession contains ministerial and President's chronos from 2009-2010, including correspondence with tenants, information regarding rental arrears, home repairs, decision papers, and correspondence to MLAs and the Legislative Assembly.

The photographs document the construction of a winter road between Fort Providence and Inuvik in 1963-1964. The 8 mm film appears to depict a flight from Calgary to Norman Wells. The 16 mm film depicts the loading and unloading of barges through various communities along the Mackenzie River, including Hay River, Fort Simpson, Fort Wrigley and Fort Good Hope. The cartographic booklet is comprised of maps of the Mackenzie River.

The materials formerly belonged to Ross Laycock, who worked on the first winter road up the Mackenzie Valley from Fort Providence to Inuvik in the 1960s.

Records include photographs relating to wharf construction projects in Aklavik in 1953 and 1965.

Records are comprised of one report entitled "Diary Report of Reconnaissance Trip Camp Canol to MacMillan Pass." It was prepared by J. Gordon Turnbull and Sverdrub and Parcel, Architect and Engineer, Canol Project, 1943.

The records consist of correspondance, drawings and specifications relating to the construction of the Northwest Territories Pavillion that was part of Expo '86. In addition, there are correspondance and drawings dated between 1977-78 relating to the construction of the Trout Lake log school.

Records consist of a brochure celebrating the completion of Highway 3 from Yellowknife to Frank's Channel in 2006, and a Department of Transportation strategy report published in 1990.

Records include moving images documenting the Bluefish Power Project. The film includes footage of the construction camp and the building of a tunnel, which took place between March to December 1940.

The images depict many communities in the NWT, including Yellowknife, Rae (Behchoko), Fort Providence, Hay River, Fort Smith, Fort Resolution, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, Fort Norman (Tulita), Inuvik, Fort Good Hope, Colville Lake, and Wrigley. There are also images of other human impacts on the landscape, such as seismic lines, mine sites, and dams, as well as construction camps and industrial sites.

The accession is comprised of telegrams and correspondence concerning the construction of a landing strip at Wrigley in 1938.

This fonds consists 4.7 m of text, approximately 1972 photographs, 44 maps, 17 architectural drawings, and 6 audio cassettes relating to Robert R. (Bob) Janes' work in the Northwest Territories as an archaeologist, first Director of the Territorial Central Museum (later the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre or PWNHC), and Executive Director of the Science Institute of the Northwest Territories (SINT). The textual records include archaeological field notes and reports, papers and articles written and collected by Janes, reviews, correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, PWNHC building planning and operation files, newsletters, newspaper clippings, EXPO’86 planning files, and PWNHC and SINT publications. The photographs, maps, and architectural plans document archaeological work at Fort Alexander, Willow Lake, and Dealy Island, the construction, opening, and early operations of the PWNHC, the unveiling of the Sir John Ross plaque in Taloyoak (Spence Bay), and the research station at Iglulik (Igloolik). One plan shows preparations for the Northwest Territories pavilion at EXPO’86. The sound recordings include interviews and a recording of a church service for Janes’ ethnoarchaeological project at Willow Lake.

This accession contains material relating to the Homeownership Assistance Program (HAP), as well as the Materials Management Program, the Fuel Rebate Program, and Small Shed Program. It contains reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and summative materials about each program.

This accession consists of 110 photographs documenting the construction of Yellowknife buildings and services in the late 1940s, and a visit from Governor General Viscount Alexander in 1946, attributed to Frank J.G. Cunningham. Also within this accession is a poster, dinner menu and a letter written by miner Daniel L. Davis.

Series contains the records of Lizel Holdings, a holdings company, and Yellowknife Tog Shop Ltd., including documentation of the construction of a department store building at 50th Avenue and 50th Street in Yellowknife (5002-5006 Franklin Avenue). This building opened in 1968 and housed the new Yellowknife Radio store as well as The Tog Shop clothing store. Both J.I. Glick and Harold Glick were Directors of Lizel Holdings, while Harold Glick, Zelda Glick and Elizabeth Maybroda were the Directors of the Tog Shop Ltd., which was incorporated in 1966. J.I. Glick was the mortgagee for the Tog Shop Ltd.

Series also includes some records relating to the design of La Gondola restaurant.

This fonds consists of one photo album containing 102 prints and 53 loose prints taken by John Day. Many of the images depict Day's 1938 trip by boat from Athabasca to Yellowknife. Other images show Yellowknife in the late 1930s, Negus and Cominco camps and construction crews, mine sites and locations such as Fort Fitzgerald and Fort Smith.

This fonds consists of 219 photographs of Yellowknife, the Yellowknife region, prospector outposts, some mining operations and road construction. There are also three photos taken in northern Ontario.

Accession includes records from the Infrastructure Development division of the NWT Housing Corporation, primarily design and construction project files, project correspondence, tender and contract administration, and negotiated contract files. Records document the Market Housing Initiative (modular housing), seniors housing initiatives in several communities, as well as technical reports and maintenance assessments of the Somba K'e Healing Lodge, Jimmy Erasmus Seniors Home, Inukshuk Housing Cooperative, and Rockhill Apartment Building.

Records include files related to devolution and the transfer of responsibilities relating to Arctic 'A' Airports from the Federal to the Territorial Government as well as departmental interaction with Transport Canada. Records also consist of briefing notes and ministerial correspondence with the Director's Office. There are also records that relate to Aviation Studies, Arctic Airports Management Team, Arctic Airports Staff Meetings, Arctic 'B' and 'C' Airports Steering Committee, Senior Management Committee, Airports Training Committee, Departmental Management Group. Additionally records include files related to Airport Planning, Emergency Services, Municipal Administration Certification Group (MACP), Advisory Committee Northern Development (ACND), Northern Air Transport Association (NATA), Airport Operations Sub-Committee, and the Air Navigation Sub-Committee. Records also include project files related to the Rae/Edzo Community Planning Report, the Engineering Site Report for development of the airstrip at Snowdrift (Lutselk'e), and the Arctic Airport Master Plan for Pine Point. The photographs date from the 1970s and document airstrip construction in various Northwest Territories communities.

The majority of records consist of files that deal with the Northern Management Program (NMP) administered by the Department of Transportation in conjunction with Arctic College. The NMP was designed to provide training opportunities for people from the USSR and other northern countries. The training revolved around construction and desing techniques for northern communities. The program was in part the result of the USSR/Canada exchange program which allowed engineers, contractors and other professionals involved in construction to visit the other country to see other construction techniques.
